HELPMe, Simmons has a hell of a lot more that two buildings. They have the Main Campus which is bordered by Avenue Louis Pastuer (I have no idea how to spell that and don't care), Palace Road, The Fens and Boston Latin. Then there is the Residence Campus located over on Brookline Ave. There are also a number of buildings in the Back Bay.

So, in otherwords, lets put the number closer to about 20. Maybe you just forgot the zero. Actually, I think it's a higher number, but I'm not sure. I've spent many years in the medical area and was thrilled to see Simmons go with an in-house POLICE department after all the years of contract security being the primary source of protection.

They've gone through some various changes and I respect that every new agency (only about 6 years old-give or take) needs time to work out the bugs just like every rookie needs time to adjust. They seem to be doing a fine job of it. I've met a couple of the guys and there is some enthusiasm. There will be some growing pains but that has to be expected. No department is the Mass State Police in only a few years. Hell, I would guess that even the MSP wasn't the MSP in it's first few years. Give it time.

I wasnt aware that they had more buildings. I used to "date" a girl that went there and the only buildings that i knew they owned were the library and the residences. As well as boston latin. I knew they had some other affiliated properties however wasnt sure if it was routinely patrolled by Simmons officers. Give or take its an all girls school and i will just leave it at that. I know its not very active and wont have the same types or volumes of crime as a co'ed campus. Simmons is a very liberal school and most of the students that attend that college are very cerebral. Students with 1600 sat scores tend to not be violent crime offenders. However, i have heard that it pays fairly well 15 to start and has competative benefits. They have one plus over many other schools FREE parking!!!!!

When I patrolled the mean streets (security) of Simmons maybe there were 20 buildings but 17 of those were in either the enclosed residence campus or the main campus. Alot of girls there which means alot of oppurtunity for trouble if your a male. Clearly things have changed in the past couple years but the public safety officers I worked with considered it a slow job but with good pay.

Simmons actually has four major properties. One on the Fens, one of Brookline ave, two on Beacon street, and one on Comm ave. Total of 21 buildings.

Its a great department. We have come a long way and still have a long way to go. I bet within 2 years we will be armed. I recommend this place to anyone who can fit in, handle a little down time, and work hard. Also, if you are a relatively new po you can get some good training. Our hiring process is rather strict (surprisingly). Any questions PM me.
