Wayland Auxiliary Police Department
Recruiting

The Wayland Auxiliary Police Department has an on-going recruiting drive. The purpose of this is to build a pool of qualified candidates for hiring. The Wayland Auxiliary Police are an active and dedicated group of volunteers. You are require to volunteer 8 hours a month and attend a monthly training meeting (4 Hours).

The Wayland Auxiliary Police are used as an extra set of eyes & ears for the Regular full time Police Officers. After your training and probation you will be able to work in two different ways.

#1. You will be assigned a patrol shift with a fellow senior auxiliary officer. You will check and patrol all town owned buildings and property. You will assist the full time officers and assist with calls of service.

#2. You can request to ride with a full time officer. You will gain incredible experience and knowledge during these shifts. The full time officers will assist you in learning the ways to handle a wide array of calls and situations. The full time Officers of Wayland are excellent teachers and understand you don't have their knowledge or experience.

If you want a really excellent way to volunteer, and gain knowledge and experience you cant get any where else. Go to the following link and fill out the on-line application.

Good luck and stay safe.

Do they except college students, also were is the training held?

Posted by: irish17

Was wondering about the Wayland Aux. I am a college student in CJ and was looking for a way to gain experience. Where do they train their Aux. officers and is it possible to have day time classes in school and still work as an AUX officer? Thanks!

The Wayland Aux has a very good reputation. They have a very good working relationship with the regular members of the department.

They do their own inhouse training and will send you to the reserve academy.

Visit their web site for more info. All Auxilliary work is done in the evenings and weekends.

Irish17,

You will have to fill out an application and include all your qualifications. The training is at the PD.

Good luck

Keep in mind that you need to have a LTC, so you must be at least 21 y/o.
