The Fraternal Order of Police Tri-Town Lodge #30 wants to let all Massachusetts Reserve & Auxiliary officers know that they are eligible to join the FOP as Associate members. The most important part of becoming an FOP Associate member is that you will be able to join the FOP Legal Defense Plan, just like to MPA Legal Defense Plan, but much better. Through the National FOP Aux. & Reserve members can get unlimited protection for anything, job related, that may come up civil or criminal. Who is going to look out for you if you lock some guy up and the next day they go to court and take a complaint against you for assault & battery? Not the union. With the FOP Legal Plan for only $48.00 per year you can get full criminal & civil protection from things like that that may come up. With the Legal Plan you can hire your own attorney and have them join the plan or use any of the plans attorneys. We are finding more and more retired P.O.'s that just work details are joining to get the FOP plan and also other Reserve & Aux. Officers are joining. If you think about it $48.00 is less than two hours detail and you get all that protection. The FOP Legal Plan must doing something right is we just signed on the entire Boston Police Detective's Benevolence Society and also many Massachusetts Chiefs just signed on for the Legal Plan protection. Tri-Town Lodge #30 is the only FOP lodge in Massachusetts accepting Associate members right now. The Tri-Town Lodge is made up of 200+ members (Municipal, State, County, Federal etc.) and at least 30 Try members. Our associate members are invited to all our events and encouraged to get involved. Many come down to D.C. each year for the Memorial etc. If you think you may be interested please call the state Lodge and ask about an associate membership (508-222-3182) or check us out on the web at www.massfop30.com

I seriously doubt it, something here is very fishy.
This letter and attached PDF files is to introduce the members of your police department to the Massachusetts Fraternal Order of Police. As many of you might already know, the Fraternal Order of Police is the largest police organization in the Untied States with over 322,000 members, and over 2,100 Lodges nation wide. In the northern New England area the FOP is not well known. We are trying to change that.
Over the past few years the Massachusetts FOP has re-organized and is moving forward at a steady pace. With the help and support from the Grand Lodge we hope to continue to grow. The membership of the Massachusetts Fraternal Order of Police is growing every day with members from all types of law enforcement agencies such as local, municipal, state, college & universities, county and federal. In many cases individual officers become members and in some cases entire departments join for the benefits given to its members.
In order to qualify to be member of the Massachusetts FOP you must be a full-time sworn law enforcement officer with arrest powers are eligible to join the FOP. We also have many part-time and auxiliary officers as well as dispatchers that are associate members of the FOP.
One of the main benefits when you become a member of the Massachusetts FOP is the death benefits that you receive. The killed in the line of duty death benefits could be as mush as $30,000. These benefits also cover off duty incidents and retired members are also covered. Please take a look at the attached insurance information. This insurance is paid for by the State Lodge from our fundraising. We also grant a large amount of scholarships to member's children & grandchildren and that program is expanding this year also.
The National FOP also runs its own Legal Defense Fund. To become a member of the FOP Legal Defense Fund you must be an FOP member and a working law enforcement officer. The cost of the Legal Defense Fund is only $215.00 a year ($18 per Month). One of the great parts of the FOP plan is you don't have to use just certain attorneys. You can choose your own attorney or you can pick from the list of attorneys that are on the plan. If you want a certain attorney, but he isn't on the plan a small amount of paperwork filled out by your attorney and submitted will put him on board. Those attorneys on the Legal Defense Plan will be paid $125.00 per hour. We have found entire departments have dropped from other legal defense funds and joined the FOP's plan and got their attorney that they are comfortable with to join the plan. Please take a look at the attached paperwork about the FOP Legal defense Plan or learn about the plan on-line at www.fophylant.com
The Massachusetts FOP wants to be a unique organization in Massachusetts that is fighting for important issues at the State House with our newly appointed lobbyist and also being involved in the communities our members are a part of with digital fingerprint programs for kids and donating to community activities.
