Man arrested for asking to see girl's foot

A Roslyn Heights man has been arrested for asking to see the foot of an 11-year-old girl while the two were in the children's section of a public library, Nassau police said Wednesday.

Richard Hunter, 42, of 142 Willow St., has been charged with multiple counts of endangering the welfare of a child and public lewdness

Hunter, who told police that he was an unemployed musician, is accused of approaching the girl in the East Meadow Public Library on January 8. He allegedly asked to see her foot.

The girl walked away from Hunter, police said, and told her mother, who was in a different section of the library. The mother called 911, but Hunter left before authorities arrived.

In October, police believe Hunter committed a similar crime at the Uniondale Public Library, according to detectives working on the case.

There, Hunter allegedly asked a 13-year-old girl if he could draw her feet. He later placed her foot in his hand to examine it, police said.

Hunter was arrested sometime after his alleged encounter with the 11-year-old girl, police said. He is scheduled to be arraigned today at First District Court in Hempstead.

Hunter's arrest comes less than two weeks after another Nassau man was arrested on allegations of foot-related crimes.

Andrew Marks, 44, of Westbury, was arrested last week for allegedly stalking a 17-year-old girl and asking her about her feet. Marks, a former high school basketball referee, was arrested earlier this month on separate charges of making inappropriate comments about a 15-year-old's feet in December.

He was arraigned for the January incident, but the disposition of that proceeding was not immediately known
