I can't believe the pay differences between states for corrections officers. $12.60 in NH, even though somewhat a lower cost of living, but not much, is not alot for what one could get in MA either in the Sheriff's department or DOC. I don't work in either but have read most posts related to the position on here and that's not alot at all. I just wonder how beneficial would it be to apply for this job, what benefits would I receive after working there, pay raises, etc? Just wondering because it is only 5-10 miles from Manchester.

Oh, I just noticed they have a nice PowerPoint presentation that answers alot of questions, still, I just wish the pay were a little better. Anyone ever work in NH corrections or plan to, if so, what do you think about it?

5-10 miles? Hillsborough County jail is on Valley st. IN Manchester. Remember, this is starting salary, and from what I see from bringing in arrests, there is alot of overtime.

If you are looking just at corrections and qualify, go Federal at Devens starting at around 40K I think. Check into the Corrections forum for more info.

Good luck
