Pats Fans Barred From Buying Playoff Tickets

Wed Jan 10, 7:15 PM ET

For New England Patriots fans, getting a ticket for Sunday's game in San Diego has a new wrinkle -- the Chargers are only selling tickets to southern California residents.
NewsCenter 5's Steve Lacey reported Wednesday that about 1,000 tickets went on sale earlier this week. They quickly sold out leaving fans from Massachusetts with few options.
"It seems odd. It seems a small number of tickets and almost petty toward Patriots fans for the visiting team," said Sam Comerchero, of Target Sport Adventures. "Right now, it's between $200 and $250 to get in the stadium. Depending on how close you want to get to the field, it goes up."
Prices on eBay hovered between $250 and $500 depending on the location of the seat.
At the Patriots Pro Shop, word of the ticket restrictions had fans fired up. They said that it's proof that Pats fans are the best in the NFL.
"Definitely the best. There are more Patriots fans out there," one fan said.
"I think that they just don't want any true Patriots fans there," another fan said.
Patriots spokesman Stacey James said he understands why the Chargers may want to limit the number of Patriots fans in attendance, but he said that it's doubtful that there is much any team can do to keep dedicated fans away from a big game.
"Our fans are pretty clever. I think that if there is a will, there is a way, and we've seen the will of our fans is to be there in support of our team," he said.

Doesn't matter....there are so many transplanted New Englanders in Southern California, there will be at least 10,000 Pats fans there on Sunday. Same as whenever the Red Sox play in Florida, it's like a home game.

Totally agree! Gee, too bad I didn't know about the restrictions sooner. Y'all could've used my Cali house address to get tickets, LOL!
