required LTC?

I asked this in the Police Admin board also, but I then I thought this board might get more views. Sorry for double posting it.

I'm just curious if there are any departments out there that REQUIRE thier PO's to have a license to carry firearms in their Rules & Regs / Policies?

Thanks

My Dept. does...most of the job postings I have seen also require you to have one.

There has been some talk of this at our place, however nothing as of yet.

after being pulled over and told our department "license to carry" was no good , any state correction officer that takes home a department firearm must now have a LTC.

Lots do, it's one quick and easy way to weed out the rubes.

We don't have it in our rules & regs, but there was a special order issued awhile ago that requires it. Before then, quite a few didn't.

I heard that in Carver it is the exact opposite, the chief there will not issued LTC to anyone, including her officers..

they carry on their badges only

You're thinking of former Chief Diane Skoog, she's been gone for awhile and has a new gig now;

Ouch...she wouldn't issues licenses and now she's "in charge" of an organization that addresses the "needs" of female law enforcement professionals?

Head in the sand.

I need 2 more replies before I can answer a pm I got. Quincy is like Carver no LTC's and since I want to get on the police dept. It's not worth making a big fuss over it but after having my license to carry for the last 9 years, upon handing in my renewal application I was told I don't have a good reason to carry so here's your target license it's wrong and I feel demoralized.

If you had a Class A LTC in Quincy prior to the sorry excuse we have for a chief, you're supposed to have it renewed, absent other circumstances. If you're looking for a new-issue Class A, you're shit outta luck.
