You gotta love THAT union..............

Three (3) elections so far, only goes to show how much they don't want a POLICE OFFICER as chief steward. Because the HR Director and other adminstrators KNOW he wouldn't lie down with them.

Oh and let's not forget how the Brothers up at Council#93 granted the School a thirty (30) day extension for responding to the demands for the two suspended cops to return to work. Oh sorry, Why did you(AFSCME) feel the need to give away more time in the lives of two GOOD MEN? And please answer why you felt it was necessary to keep those men (Union brothers) in the dark about it? AFSCME shames itself AGAIN!!!!

Thank the lord for the MPA legal defense fund, for the Union is USELESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where the hell is the LRC with the severance issue! Lord let my people go!

Figures they would be like this. Just shows even futher how much severence is needed! Speaking of union issues and dept policies, what are other departments policies on day off requests? Do yours have to be submitted at least 24 hrs before hand or can you call up less than 24 hrs in advance and request a day off or time off (like if you are going to be a few hours late) and use time of your choice? ie: personal time or vacation time?

Posted by: Sgt Jack

FSCPD903....Not up on the exact wording on our policy at the moment but...I know if we tried to put in for time off without at least a couple of days notice the management here tends to have a meltdown....If you want feel free to shoot me a pm and we can discuss it further or any other contract issues.

Here's the problem with AFSCME today;

Founded in 1936, it is the largest all-public employee organization with an industrial union as a parent. In 2000 it represented 35,000 police officers nationally. (that's only 700 officers per state) with major strengths in Connecticut, Illinois, Wisconsin and growing in western states.

When fewer than ten (10) police officers are to be represented, AFSCME places them in locals with a mix of different types of public employees, such as a city-wide local.
AFSCME has had good success in creating state-level, police-only councils such as AFSCME's Council 15, Connecticut Council of Police Unions. (WTF happened here?)

For YEARS all the CPO's state-wide were begging union officials for police-only representation either a group, local or council. Basically they were told it could never happen. Now can anybody REALLY not see why Chief Stewards with experience as custodians, clerks, and boiler plant operators who lay down with HR/Management against the cops, DON"T represent us!?

GO MCLEA!!!!!
All you poor State/Community College cops need to shake off the dust and start networking, the LRC may decide soon. Will you folks be ready?

Currently all are required to provide is one hour's notice; that's for a personal day, sick day, or a self swap.

5 days to request time off such as personal day, vacation, comp time, If you were to call in and say you will be late a few my department and coworkers are good about covering (you can call any time so long as you call just before your shift No MIAs)

And the sad thing is Delta if we really need the day and we know that its going to be denied..most guys will just call out sick rather than use a vac, comp or personel. The other thing that pisses me off..is that despite the contract saying that persons should be forced by inverse seniority ie the junior people...the managament here decied that everyone will take a turn getting forced...seems that they can just make up their own rules and the union hasn't done sh@t about it...we can even have days off cancelled and be forced to come in so a junior person can have the night off..despite that fact that they're already people that are on other shifts that could work it....If MCLEA does ever get going we really need some very strong and clear language...no more of this vaugely worded crap
