SALARY: $25,000-$29,750 + benefits. Starting salary is negotiable based on education, military service, and experience. Percentiles are cumulative. Minimum requirements: $25,000. Two-year degree (+3%): $25,750. Military service (+3%): $25,750. Reserve only (+2%): $25,500. Four-year degree (+6%): $26,500. DO certified/minimum one-year exp.(+6%): $26,500. DO certified/less than one-year exp. (+5%): $26,250. DOC certified/minimum one-year exp. (+4%): $26,000. DOC certified/less than one-year exp. (+3%): $25,750. Fluent in Spanish (+4%): $26,000.
DUTIES: Detention officer is entrusted with the responsibilities of safe and secure custody and humane treatment of those persons incarcerated in our facilities. Their duties include, but are not limited to: intake and processing, working in control rooms, supervising detainees and transporting detainees within the facilities.
REQUIREMENTS: Must be 21 years of age; be high school graduate/GED; US citizen (or naturalized); flexible to work all shifts. Must undergo extensive background investigation; have good driving, credit, and criminal history. Must complete basic training within first year and be of good moral character. Detention officers are NOT required to live in Wake County, but must be within a reasonable commuting distance.
