SALARY: $30,541-$33,717, depending on education, training, and sworn law enforcement experience. After successful 6 month probationary period, salary increases 5%.
REQUIREMENTS: Minimum age: 20 years, as of date of application. Weight must be commensurate with height and body frame. Must be in excellent physical condition with no obvious condition which will impair performance. Minimum education: must have graduated from accredited high school/GED; college/university level education desired. Must be US citizen, and must have resided in NC for 12 months immediately preceding date of application. Military service in NC qualifies. Must have not pled guilty to, entered plea of no contest to or have been convicted of any crime other than a minor misdemeanor; must not, during 3 years preceding date of application, have been convicted of a traffic offense which required suspension or revocation of driving privileges; must not have accumulated more than 8 points against applicant's driving record during preceding 3 years. Must meet minimum standards for law enforcement officer established by NCCJ Ed. & Trng. Stds. Commission. Must be BLET-certified or currently enrolled in a BLET program prior to submission of application.
