DUTIES: The position is located within the police and public safety department. Must work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays. Patrols university property to deter crime and identify violations or potential hazards. Protects life and property of the campus community; detects and arrests offenders; and, enforces all laws, ordinances, and university policies.
REQUIREMENTS: A working knowledge of the laws relating to the rights of suspects, search and seizure, and the methods, procedures and practices used in investigation is essential. Also, a proven ability to act quickly and intelligently in an emergency situation is necessary. Must also have the ability to carry out oral and written instructions. Requires high school graduation; some college preferred. Must have completed BLET as determined by the NC Ed. & Trng. Stds. Commission and must meet all other requirements for certification. Must be at least 21 years of age. Drug testing required of all finalists and psychological and medical exam required after conditional offer of employment.
