SALARY: $29,338-$36,564, DOQ, plus great benefits; educational incentive for qualifying degree(s), compensation consideration given for experienced officers currently working in the detention field.
DUTIES: Will work 12-hour shifts, with as many as 15 off-duty days per month. Supervises, cares for, and provides security for inmates in custody, as well as seeing that inmates are taken to scheduled court appearances. Candidate must be a decision maker, able to handle situations as they arise, possess ability to communicate effectively and deal with all types of personalities, have enthusiasm and a genuine desire to excel.
REQUIREMENTS: Candidate must be at least 21 years of age and a citizen of the US; must be a high school graduate or possess GED; must pass a complete medical exam, drug testing and a suitability screening; must be able to pass a comprehensive background investigation and be of good moral character; must not have been convicted of a felony or serious misdemeanor by local, state, federal, or military court; must live in Guilford County or any adjacent county; must serve a one-year probationary period and complete state-mandated training.
