A type of smart card id. supposedly, this idea came about post-9/11 due to the chaos of trying to figure out who showed up off-duty to help out and who was missing. At an MCI, the card could just be swiped on reporting to command and instantly your credentials would be verified (ems id's are so easy to duplicate it's a joke) and if something did happen, instant access to the necessary info to take care of you would be there. this seems controversial due to people wanting to protect personal info from their employers so there would probably be a long debate of figuring who could access those details and for what reason. medical records aren't always something people want shared. |
