Ill bet my badge they already know who they are gonna hire.

You never really know up here!

How many are they hiring?

Posted by: extremesgs

every other non-CS town requires, or prefers the MPTC academy.... W Newbury only wants someone with the reserve? Uhm... part-timer in the hole or what??

Posted by: DVET1979

Isn't John Cena from West Newbury?

Posted by: JFleck

They're hiring one immediately and one later in the year.

So since the name was put forward to the selectman this evening... or so I was told, was it who you guessed??? For the record, he definitely deserves the position.

When will they hire again?

Did anyone else notice that the deadline was just over a month ago? If you didn't get your resume and application in yet, seems like a waste of time to do so now.

When will they hire outside the department?

Posted by: JFleck

There's a retirement anticipated in august but since the town has an auxiliary program they tend to promote within as most with auxiliaries do.

Posted by: copper24

what happens if someone has better qualifications then the aux. do will they still hire within?

Posted by: JFleck

They promote a reserve to fulltime and auxiliaries to reserve.

I can't answer for the chief who he'd recommend for the position but a personal knowledge of the town, it's citizens and eccentricities is always helpful.

On a West Newbury note:

Ofc. Dan Cena (Newbury PD) was injured in a on duty accident his crusier was hit by a drunk on Rt. 1 Monday night. He broke his leg and they had to use the jaws to get him out. Dan is John Cena's younger brother.

Get well Dan
