What is with this place, can't they make up thier minds? Take applications, give test, take applications, gives test, but don't hire anyone, Jeses!!

I'm just curious as to why they require a Class A to even take the exam? Especially when they're willing to hire someone (in theory, anyway) that isn't yet academy trained? Doesn't it sorta become moot point once you've proven yourself through the test and the interview and the background check, and the academy....?

They always have these "tests", give the p.a.t., interviews etc. then say you are on the list, but do they ever hire????

That has been updated as of 01/10/06 by the powers that be at UMASS.

We have changed one of the eligibility requirements for those
who want to take the UMass Amherst Police Exam. I have highlighted the
change on the attached flyer. The change is that we will now require a
license to carry firearms at the DATE OF APPOINTMENT TO A POLICE
POSITION and not at the date of the test. Could you please make that
change on your website? Many thanks .
