DENNIS - Four people were arrested on drug offenses over the weekend in separate incidents in Dennis. About 10:30 PM Friday night police stopped a car on Route 28 for having a defective headlight and reportedly smelled marijuana. Police arrested the driver 31-year old Brandon Wright of Centerville and passenger 26-year old Luis Garcia of Dennis both for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. A pound of marijuana in a plastic bag was recovered from the vehicle. Garcia was also found to have three outstanding warrants on him.Shortly before 8 PM Saturday police spotted a vehicle in the parking lot of a closed business on Upper County Road. Ptl. John Brady noted movement inside the vehicle and then a subject emerged from the passenger side. Ofc. Brady contined the subject and subsequently recovered a large quantity of cocaine in the suspects coat with an estimated street value of over $2,000. A scale and undetermined amount of cash were also seized. 53-year old Blair Belcher of Dennisport was arrested for trafficking in cocaine.
About 6:45 PM Sunday police in Barnstable, Yarmouth and Dennis received numerous calls about a Dodge van operating erractically along Route 28. Dennis Patrolman Cleve Daniels stopped a vehicle fitting the description on Sea Street in Dennisport. After conducting a series of sobriety tests Ptl. Cleve arrested 42-year old Monica Wright of Dennisport for operating under the influence of drugs. Dennis Police in a press release say Ptl. Cleve recently completed a comprehensive course of study lasting over several weeks and was certified as a Drug Recognition Expert, one of only nine such officers on Cape Cod. All four suspects were due to be arraigned Monday in Orleans District Court.
