BOSTON -- Cape Cod and State police arrested five men in Fitchburg early Monday morning in connection with an attack at a Yarmouth home overnight where a man was shot at with a machine gun.
Police in Yarmouth responded to a call at 447 Winslow Gray Road in South Yarmouth about 3 a.m. on reports of multiple gunshots fired. When they got there they found that one of the occupants had been confronted by several men who shot at him and the house, then sped away.
No one was injured and the shooters fled in a black Nissan Pathfinder sport utility vehicle, police said. About two hours later state police spotted the vehicle in Fitchburg and stopped it. They said they recovered a Mac-10 45 caliber machine pistol in the car. Five unidentified men were taken into custody and were being held at the Leominster state police barracks.
