Maybe it is a detail. I am pretty sure that the building that Au Bon Pain is in, The Holyoke Center, is a Harvard owned building.

Because Dunkin Donuts is too far away.

i used to work in cambridge. a lot of stores around the area hire detail cops to hang out in there. Usually it's liquor stores. Stop and Shop in porter sq hires a detail cop though. same with Hidden Sweets (candy store). Au Bon Pain probably does the same

if it was cpd, it'd probably be the guy assigned to walk the square. he's usually at Nini's corner or that convience store around the corner though.

I would have to agree with the other poster. The building Au Bon Pain is in is a Harvard owned building so, they have a HUPD detail. Maybe their detail rate is lower than CPD's. I wonder if one has to hire HU over CP if you are located on Harvard property.

I have a friend on Cambridge. I will ask him next time I see him.

It is a detail, 6PM-10PM and 10PM-2AM. Au Bon Pain is located in a Harvard owned building so Harvard gets the detail. It has nothing to do with detail rates between CPD and HUPD. We have had the detail for the past 15+ years mainly because of the homeless bothering customers but also because it is the second higest grossing Au Bon Pain worldwide.
