Grade 14 Step 01Position:Campus Police Officer I Position Available:ImmediatelyGeneral Statement of Duties: Patrols the buildings, grounds and adjacent areas at regular intervals to safeguard against trespass, theft and damage to property. Enforces state laws as well as the rules and regulations of the institution. Maintains order among students, employees and visitors. Will direct traffic and monitor parking of automobiles. Exercises police powers in the detection and apprehension of law violators. Patrols roads on campus, investigates accidents and traffic complaints on campus. Will perform other duties as requested by supervisor. Appointed individual will be required to attend and successfully complete, within one year from date of appointment, a training program equivalent to that required for Special State Police officers under Chapter 22C Section 63 of the Massachusetts General Laws. Completion of probationary period is contingent upon completion of police academy training, there is a minimum service requirement that employees so trained are required to refund the cost of such training at time of seperation. Minimum Qualifications:Associate's degree in Criminal Justice and/or part-time MCJTC Academy or equivalent preferred. Knowledge of police procedures and practices and knowledge of the law of arrest and criminal procedure in lower courts required. Ability to prepare written reports of investigations required. Excellent written, communication and interpersonal skills required.
