Authorities say a Lilburn police officer shot and killed one of two suspects in an attempted bank robbery.
Meanwhile, authorities continue to look for the second suspect.
The shooting took place about 7:40 p.m. at a bank on U.S. 29.
Lilburn Police Sergeant Tyler Thomas says police responded to a silent robbery call from the Banco Nuestra Communidad. He says the suspects emerged from the bank and refused police commands to surrender.
Shots were fired. The officer, whose name has not been released, struck one of the suspects. He fell near an adjacent pawn shop.
Investigators from the Gwinnett County Police Department, the FBI, the Lawrenceville Police Department, the Gwinnett Sheriff's Department and the district attorney's office were at the scene while the search for the second suspect was under way.
