VICTORVILLE- A man and woman carrying nearly 60 grams of methamphetamine and numerous weapons were arrested Sunday, thanks to the keen observations of an off-duty sheriff's deputy, officials said.

Deputy Kevin Henry, with the aviation unit of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, saw two people running away from a vehicle that had stalled at the overpass of Roy Rogers Drive near Civic Drive, said Deputy Kari Klaus with the Victorville sheriff's station.
"He thought it was odd, so from a distance he followed while talking to dispatch," she said, adding that Deputy Henry saw the pair go into Home Depot.
A little earlier, Klaus and her trainee had just gotten on duty for their swing shift when a call came in about a hit-and-run at the corner of Mojave and Village drives. The description of the car, a white Dodge Intrepid with Oregon plates, matched the description of the car that Deputy Henry had spotted, and things started clicking.
"It all just snowballed," Klaus said. "We had about eight deputies that surrounded the Home Depot, and everybody worked together. It was very cool teamwork."
When the pair came out of the Home Depot, deputies iden- tified David Lawrence Williams, 48, of Victorville, as the same one involved in the hit-and-run accident, despite the fact that he had changed his sweatshirt in the store, officials said.
On Williams, they allegedly found a loaded handgun that was stolen from a home in Apple Valley, as well as a Sap impact weapon, a homemade metal shank, a methamphetamine pipe and six pocket knives. On his companion, 21-year-old Tiffany Michele LaFleur, of Phelan, deputies reportedly recovered 59.6 grams of methamphetamine, with at least some of it hidden in her bra, along with several pocked knives.
Both are being charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a loaded firearm, possession of an impact weapon, and fleeing the scene of an accident.
Prior records, if any, were not available as of press time.
