I like the new stuff. Its has come along way from what I remember...when it was a dot net. I guess this is directed more towards Gil but... How long has it been going? If my memory is correct, I can remember getting on the first site.... in 99?. Instead of ranks I think we had badge numbers. Does any one else remember?

It seems like forever! I remember when a very upset gentleman of the upper ranks wrote a very preturbed e-mail to Gil because of someone from his department posing as a "captain" (or something like that) and he was concerned that this person was an imposter... what he was referring to was the "user rank" by the number of posts...

The site was established on 4/1/98 the first message board was added around 3/9/00 and was a UBB board.

You can see some of the changes over the years from the link below.

Even though I didn't sign up for this site until just a few years ago..my husband had been using it since the very first board...I used to make so much fun of him...now look at me haha

Having found the site about two weeks ago and instantly recognizing it as a good place to learn, communicate and vent, I decided to join. Not having any idea what name to pick I fell upon this one. Didn't know some people had a tradition. While badge numbers are perhaps relative in some agencies our computer i.d. numbers are what we must now use and those we don't widely share as they are part of our sign on. Great time so far.

Ah yes, mass-net.org. I remember finding it on my WebTv.. It was a link off a law enforcement job site... I cannot remember the name. It was the only link under Mass. I also remember in the early days, faxing you over a list of non-civil service departments. I think I was BMM at the time with a badge number in the 40's.... Any way, I think you have done a great job with the site.

On my AOL AIM I still have members under "MassNet" because of the chat sessions we had
