Police Say Man Confessed To Other Incidents

Video: Man Charged In Church Fires

BOSTON -- A Bible student from Plymouth was charged Monday with burning down a church in New York and damaging one in his hometown.

NewsCenter 5's Jack Harper reported that investigators in Pottersville, N.Y., said Caleb Lussier, 20, torched an Episcopal church in May, apparently over "differing views" of religion. In Plymouth, Lussier is a suspect in a string of incidents from December.

Officials said that he admitted setting a fire at the New Testament Church in Plymouth in December of 2005.

"That is a surprise to me. We pray for them, and we have forgiveness in our hearts toward them because I don't know what their reasons were," parishioner Deborah Yngling said.

Police said that someone broke into St. Bonaventure Church and left a threatening note. Police said that Lussier also confessed to that incident.

"It was kind of a general threat with a biblical reference," said the Rev. Ken Overbeck of St. Bonaventure Church. "I hope the guy gets the help that he needs."

Lussier was held on $250,000 bail in the New York case.
