EAST HAVEN, Conn. -- Surveillance video shows a man jumping over the counter of a hotel recently and kicking the clerk in the face.
Eyewitness News obtained the surveillance video recorded earlier this week at the Quality Inn on Frontage Road in East Haven.
Police told Eyewitness News that Michael Greenspun, 18, of New Haven, walked into the hotel lobby and initially engaged the desk clerk in conversation.
A few minutes later, the surveillance video showed Greenspun jumping over the counter, kicking the clerk's head. Then, the video showed, Greenspun continued to kick the clerk while he was down on the floor.
The suspect then dragged the clerk closer to a safe and cut him with a box cutter before leaving with about $200 in cash, police said.
Police said the clerk was hospitalized, and friends of the clerk told Eyewitness News he is recovering in good condition.
Police charged Greenspun with robbery, assault, larceny, reckless endangerment and carrying a dangerous weapon.
