WAREHAM — Police arrested four suspected drug dealers in a series of busts this week. The first of the arrested came at about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, when officer Mary Walker was tipped off to a group of men acting suspiciously near an ATM at the Stop and Shop plaza on Cranberry Highway. The officer approached the men's car and spotted a leafy, green substance inside, police said. Officers Walker and John Verhaegan searched the vehicle, finding seven small baggies of suspected marijuana, two scales, a pipe and one clear sandwich bag filled with more suspected marijuana. Both men inside were arrested. Jay Augustine, 25, of 165 Bolton Street in New Bedford, was charged with possession of a Class D substance and five outstanding warrants. Brian Boardman, 21, of 40 Lussier St. in Acushnet, was charged with possession of a class D substance with intent to distribute. Three hours later the same day, Officer John Gerard stopped a motor vehicle operated by a man later identified as Gilberto Baez, 24, for operating with a suspended license. Officer Gerard searched Mr. Baez's car and discovered about two pounds of suspected marijuana and several cell phones, police said. Mr. Baez faces charges of possession of a class D substance, possession with intent to distribute and operating after suspension of license. At about 12:30 a.m. yesterday, Officers Brian Berriault and James White stopped a car for speeding. While they were approaching the vehicle, they saw the passenger move down toward the floor and then pop back up. The officers smelled the odor of burnt marijuana and ordered both of the car's occupants to get out. Inside the car, the officers found two clear plastic baggies of suspected marijuana and a scale, police said. Michael P. Atwood , 19, of 22 East Central Avenue in Onset, was charged with possession of a class D substance and possession with intent to distribute. Andrew P. Linhares, 18, of 16 Penikese Street in Wareham, faces the same charges.
