SOLEDAD, Calif. -- A man infuriated after finding a teenager spray-painting graffiti on his pickup chased the fleeing vandal and ran him down with the truck before knifing him, police said.
Julion Cesar Lee Tong, 40, was arrested and booked for investigation of the attempted murder of 18-year-old Miguel Angel Uribe.
Tong apparently became enraged when he caught Uribe spray-painting his Silverado pickup truck with black paint Tuesday morning, investigators said. Tong's pickup was vandalized weeks earlier and Uribe may have been the culprit.
``In my opinion, (the attack) was a culmination of frustration,'' Detective Tom Marchese said.
Uribe fled on a bicycle after being discovered by Tong, who used the pickup to pursue the teenager, Lt. Jaime Fernandez said. Tong drove his truck onto the sidewalk and struck him, investigators said.
When Uribe tried to run away, Marchese said, Tong chased and attacked him with a large knife, similar to those used to harvest lettuce.
Officers found Uribe with severe cuts on his neck, body and hands. He was hospitalized at San Jose Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, Fernandez said, and he will be arrested on suspicion of felony vandalism when he's released from the hospital.
