Fisher College Police Chief

Does anyone know what happened to the Fisher College Police Chief?

He had some very strange ideas on how to run a college department. Including letting an uneducated bitter 23 year old basically run the day to day operations.

He's working for the sheriff's dept.

Do you know if it is with Middlesex or Suffolk? He ran for Essex County Sheriff for a short time but couldn't come up with enough money.

I wonder if he finally passed the Bar Exam? I think this was his 3rd try.

If anyone is thinking about applying for his job, I would advise caution. It doesn't pay much and you are more or less the head security guard for a school full of spoiled kids who couldn't get into any other Boston area "College".

He actually got a job as the head of the DOC, although he doesn't have the ber reputation on here, he is actually a good guy.

He is a very personable guy. But he has very strange ideas on how to run a department.

1. He forbids his employees to see one another outside of work. Instead of developing trust with the people you work with he fosters an enviorment where everyone was stabbing each other behind their back. There was no trust.

2. Although he has "police officers" he wouldn't let you make an arrest until you called him and asked permission. Most of the time he drove in and made an arrest himself.

3. Everyone was a Sargent. There were no Lt's Captains etc just 7 Sgt's.

4. None of the dept's radio worked. You had to provide your own cell phone so you call the other officers on duty. Yet, his main priority was a satellite TV so he could watch CNN incase of nuclear attack.

5. He let a bitter uneducated 23 year old from a tiny town near New Bedford run the department. The kid had personality problems with everyone.

6. He hired this goofball who was let go by MIT, Emerson, LaSalle and Dana Hall and made him a Sgt. He slept in his car when working the overnights.

7. He encouraged an hostile relationship with the students. The officers were not there to work with the students and keep them safe they were they to bust them for even the most minor infractions. The students were not allowed to know the officers last names.

8. He hired this Spanish woman who couldn't construct an english sentence made her a Sgt. And put her in charge of scheduling.

I don't remember reading that there is a new head of the Dept of Corrections.
Considering the relationship the present Commissioner has with the Union and the fact that Romney is in the final months of his tenure, I find it hard to believe a New DOC head has been named.

Besides, he is a big Democrat who got fired as the head of the Welfare Fraud Bureau by Republican Gov. Jane Swift.

Wasn't he the one that picked up prostitutes in his uniform in Chinatown and got busted twice?

1. He does not forbid his employees to see one another outside of work. The stabbing people in the back is true but it is not his fault it is the individuals who do it for whatever there personal reasoning is. There are a few of the staff that do not like each other and do not get along, but the issues that cause this are the differences between the individuals and the fact that they are not mature enough to know how to not like someone but still have a working relationship with them.
2. Campus police officers can make ant arrest for a felony, but he does like to be consulted on non- felony arrest. It is not cause he wants to come in and do the arrest himself it is because the way the school is. there very political and worried about liability and there reputation(Ha, Ha). The president of the college informed him to keep an eye on all arrest made by the Police dept, especially if it involves students.
3. Everyone was a Sargent. There were no Lt's Captains etc just 7 Sgt's.

4. There entire dept. have brand new motorola radios that work just fine and yes there is a new CCTV set up with a screen that stays on CNN 24 hours a day.
5. As far as the biter 23 year old goes, there are a few people there with personality issues but trust me the one person you are referring to never ran any dept. the biggest responsibility he had was scheduling.

6.I have no knowledge or comment on this one, but it is possible.
7. He did not encouraged an hostile relationship with the students. He simply want the staff to conduct themselves professionally and not get "to friendly" with the students. Which did work because there was an officer terminated not to long ago because of an relationship he was having with a student. The school is 70% female and he wants to make sure there are no officers being involved with students or rumors of this because an officer is too friendly or nice to a specific student. They do not bust the students for even the most minor infractions. And how aren't the students allowed to know the officers last name and all officers wear their last name on a there shirt.

8.I personally don't know about this one either- He hired this Spanish woman who couldn't construct an english sentence made her a Sgt. And put her in charge of scheduling.,

I am glad that Aux cop has had a better experience at Fisher than most of us had. Maybe after all the turnover, things have gotten better.

I stand corrected about the students not knowing our last name, it was our first name they couldn't know, We had to constantly address each other as Officer so and so as we stood at the big desk in the hall that they called the police station.

I stand by everything else I wrote.

The goofball Sgt. was known for picking up hookers in Chinatown and driving them around in the Emerson Police sedan. He reportedly maced an innocent bystander on Boylston St.

When he was suspended form MIT they asked if he had any other weapons, they found a half a dozen unauthorized loaded hand guns in his MIT locker.

He rides around in an Impala with a Vanity plate that spells out something like SP 9.
He has a half a dozen scanners and 2 ways in them and has been know to join in on active police pursuits especially on Rt3.

Thankfully, he is out of Campus cop work and last I heard he now drives an ambulance
in the Natick area.

I worked there for a short period and if it weren't for medical troubles with my daughter I never would have left, the Chief was a fine man to work for and understood and supported my decision to leave. Yes if there was an arrest he did require notification and (just like most Campus Police departments) arrest was not the preferred response.
As for the other issues raised previously I will not comment here but if you pm me I will elaborate as best I can.

I have not ben there a long time so i don't know about the goofball Sgt., but I have heard some stories about him and they were pretty much saying the same thing that masscopguy is, so i am figuring that there is some truth to it. Also in the past few months that i've been there a lot has changed they got rid of the big wooden desk and have a nice police desk equipped with CCTV and Cable along with a PC and internet access. We also got brand new radios. So the chief did make some positive changes, but the depart was so in shambles it's will be a while before it is a well ran dept. He also got rid of a some of the staff that was causing problems and were a liability to to department as well as the school. I must admit that the training is really lacking at fisher, it is almost not exsistent.
