I just got an application for the SCSD and noted there was a box asking if i was over 21. Is the hiring age 21 or is that a question regarding carry of firearms.

Why not call and ask them?

Posted by: mikemac64

Are you over 21??? If yes, answer yes. If no, answer no. They will find out anyway.

scott, have tried calling numerous times to no avail, they don't seem to answer the phone to often in any department. Yet I will keep calling. I am not 21 and am not going to waste my time or theirs sending them an application that they need not even look at.

I still think you should call them...stop being so lazy

Spinmass,

While I am not 100 percent sure about Suffolk, I know 21is the hirng age for my department. Generally this is because of the firearms requriement. Although, you don't carry a firearm on a regular basis, it is a necessity that everyone have the ability to carry a firearm in an emergency situation. I could be incorrect though.

thank you
