NBA Players Told To Leave Guns At Home

NEW YORK -- NBA Commissioner David Stern is suggesting the league's players should confine their shooting to the court -- not the streets.
He said he'd prefer that his players leave their firearms behind when they go out. Stern said the statistics seem to indicate that "if you carry a gun, your chances of being shot by one increase dramatically." He called the issue of players and guns an "alarming" subject.
The gun issue was raised when Indiana Pacers' Stephen Jackson shot a gun in the air at least five times outside an Indianapolis strip club on Oct. 6. He originally told police he fired in self-defense during a fight in which he was hit by a car.

The NBA's collective bargaining agreement lets players own licensed guns, but they can't carry them on any league or team business. Stern said if he had his way -- and if a collective bargaining deal weren't involved -- he'd prefer that the only place a player would be able to have a gun would be at home to protect it and those inside it.

The NBA is filled with a bunch of hoodlums, thats why I haven't been able to watch a
game since the 80's. It's the old saying "... you can take the player out of the hood but you can't take the hood out of the player..."
