Having the good luck of training with the men and women of this fine agency, I wish all those who may ant this job best of luck. They do great work and I wish I had more time with them. I worked overseas and these are true protection professionals. Good luck.

Hey Irishman, if I wasn't 36 goin on 37 I would be all over this opportunity.

Hey folks,

This was the only time I've ever even tried for a federal position. I had happened upon the site and, knowing a friend that's an agent for them, figured what the hell.

I took the questionaire and test and essay. Now, I know that it takes forever and a day for these things to proceed, and I am also told by my friend that even though she was hired, she never learned her test scores. So, I'm not asking when I'll get my "results", but does anyone know if the feds typically contact only those that make it to the next step, or do they send out an actual no thanks to those they don't, too? Just curious as to a ballpark timeframe and whether to expect notification even if I didn;t make it along, or whether you're just kinda left wondering.

Thanks all, and stay safe this new year.

No requests to take the exam accepted after October 31, 2006 from USMarshalls website.... Did i read that right?

Posted by: jb10

Hmm. Yeah, looks like October 31 was a cut off. Damn.

(well, i tried linking to the announcment, but i guess i haven't earned the site's trust, yet... )

Unless the site hasn't been updated in a while, but I doubt they'd let that slip...

I was at the IACP and spoke to a couple of USMs and they said the announcement will come in Winter 2007.

JB10,

I don't know if DS sends out a "no thanks" letter to applicants that don't make it past the first cut, but I do know that many of those who applied that made it to the next level have already been contacted and gone through part/all of the interview process. I don't know if this helps, but hopefully it does.

Huh. Not to ressurect an old thread, but I thought it'd be worth noting that I just got a call from DS today. Seems they're coming to Boston in June, and are holding written tests and oral boards. So, if you're local and put in several months back, but haven't heard anything, you may still yet. I had assumed I'd never hear from them (and, on a humorous sidenote, I didn't recognize the number on my cell, but was expecting an old friend to call me back at that very moment. I almost answered the phone with a greeting that would have been a decidedly bad foot to start out on. *whew*. good looking out, God. ).

Anyway, I understand that they're on a hiring freeze right now, so I wonder if this is just to generate a future list? Hmm. Anyone know whether the freeze rumor is true? I figure I'm a long shot for the job, but what the hell, right? Good experience to go through the process with them either way.

Anyone else get calls in the last few days?

I actually got a call from them on Saturday as well. Like you, I wasn't expecting to ever hear back from them. I read on some other forums that people from other cities were already getting calls back in December, so I figured I was out of luck. It's a long shot for me as well, but still worth a try.

On a side note, my cell phone actually lost reception during the conversation with their recruiter. I was about to chuck it out the window when they called back, luckily. Anyway, good luck with the examinations. Maybe I'll see you there.

As usual I'm a day late and a dollar short. Or in my case 10 years late. Only federal job us "old" guys can get are DoD and the VA....LOL....
