RENO, Nev.- Undercover detectives making a drug bust seized more than 7 ounces of crystal methamphetamine, a sawed-off shotgun, a rifle and five handguns, including one stolen from the Sparks Police Department.
The seizure began with the arrest in Sparks Wednesday night of Vimael Gomez-Tapia, 24, Reno, allegedly in possession of about 2 ounces of meth, Reno police said.
The investigation also prompted the arrest of Marcelo Pacheco, 43, Reno and the search of his residence in Reno.
In addition to the gun reported stolen by Sparks police, another had been reported stolen from Churchill County, police said. The detectives also seized 5.5 ounces of meth there and $1,883 in cash.
Gomez-Tapia was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, two counts of possession of a controlled substance for sales, trafficking a controlled substance, two counts of possession of a stolen firearm and conspiracy to violate the Controlled Substance Act. He was being held in the Washoe County Jail on $120,000 bail.
Pacheco was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, two counts of a controlled substance for sales, two counts of trafficking a controlled substance, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a short barreled shotgun and conspiracy to violate the Controlled Substance Act. He was being held in the Washoe County Jail on $165,000 bail.
