The purpose of the conference is to bring together auxiliary/reserve police leadership, both career and volunteer, from auxiliary/reserve police units from around the Commonwealth to promote and exchange the best practices of their organizations. It will give the leadership an opportunity to learn what other successful programs throughout the state are doing in the areas of recruiting, screening, selecting, training, assigning, and recognition of their volunteer auxiliary/reserve police officers.
In addition there will be speakers addressing areas pertinent to running professional volunteer auxiliary/reserve police units.
Erin Vermilye, VIPS Program Training Coordinator from the International Association of Chiefs of Police will tell us about the available resources through the national VIPS program
Framingham Police Deputy Chief Craig Davis will talk about auxiliary/reserve police and accreditation
Attorney Brian Simoneau will speak about the laws dealing with auxiliary and reserve police
NYPD Captain James Albrecht, Ret. will be sharing his personal experiences on 9/11
El Paso County Reserve Deputy Scot Cuthbertson, a Reserve Unit Leader from Colorado will speak about volunteer law enforcement in Colorado
