Looking for info on a scammer who tried to shaft me..unsuccessfully of course. Has anyone ever taken a report on a scammer (possibly out of Providence RI) using the names TONY SMITH or JOHN KROON?? Tried to pull a car buying scam on me..sent fraudulent Western Union Money Orders and was looking for me to shell out for a $650 "delivery charge" for the vehicle

Guy had a 401 area code cell phone. I contacted FBI Boston and then I scammed him back...guy was standing at Walmart waiting for me to send him "HIS" money back.

Then he has the balls to tell me "you better watch your back, we're gonna get you, you're dead". I think he just upped his charges...

Anyone with info I'd appreciate it...gonna find this SOB

About a year ago or so, someone by the exact name tried to scam my sister. I dont rememember the exact details but according to the scam, she had won a large sum of money. She was mailed a check (with no return address, no sender and just wrapped in a piece of paper) and her instructions were to mail through Western Union to "John Kroon" in Malden, MA. (I'm pretty sure it was Malden) Obviously she found it suspicious and was not sending money to someone she didnt know with no phone # or anything. She called the AG's office and reported it. I haven't heard any updates so they probably just filed it away.

I remember the letter/instructions were obviously bogus so hopefully his scam(s) aren't working.. but there are always some people. If you end up filing a report or anything PM me and I'll have my sister give you details and everything because she has copies of it all.

You "scammed him back"??? Aw, some cute little playground vengance huh?

The FBI, nor the AG, won't give a crap about it. You didn't get scammed, you lost no money. They're too busy dealing with fradulent driveway crack sealers, roofers, and other scams that ARE working on the elderly, etc.

It's not did he or didn't he fall for the hoax.. it's the fact that someone is actually trying to scam him. I'm sure he isn't the only one who this guy has tried to scam and I am sure he's gotten away with it. And yes, there is a chance he IS working on the elderly as well, etc. A scam is a scam.

Yep, I don't play fair...20 years on the job teaches you to play hard ball. His bad luck, he picked someone who can actually FIND him.
As for the FBI, if you don't report it, they sure as hell aren't going to look. They are going to trace him and they are going to provide me a name....all I need. Not that I give 2 sh*ts about what he tried to scam, when he said he was coming to my house and I better watch my back...there will be two things waiting for him; a cruiser and an ambulance.

As far as the scam...it's a new twist--they get your car and your money. The car goes overseas (probably Iraq) and they are used for DEMOLITION if you know what I mean...against our own troops. Free car, free money, do you think we should just forget about it? That's what they hope for .. stupidity on our part to empower them. So yes, I am following it through.
