Cost of the SSP Academy

My employer will sponsor me for the SSP Academy but I have to foot the bill. Does anyone know the cost? I realize I can call New Braintree but at this point I was just looking for a rough idea?

Thanks

I am a graduate of the 17th SSPO and I can remember hearing the number $3000 was tossed about quite a bit. I can tell you for sure that most agencis (that I know of) who send people to this academy are responsible to repay the agency at least $3000 if they leave before a set amount of time. This is a contractual thing. However, if the agency is sponsoring you and not hiring you, then you may not have the contractual agreements. Hope that helps.

If you are going to be sponsored it wouldn't hurt to attempt to get into the MPTC Recruit Academy instead. If the above posts are correct it will be cheaper for you.

Thanks Catfish.. I was thinking the same thing. I read over the weekend that the cost of the regular academy was 4K and you don't have to live out in New Braintree.

What a waste of $$$. Just spend $2300 for the FT MPTC academy. SSPO will get you nowhere in this state.

The SSPO Academy is around $500 for private and free for state.

My question is this ... do you have to be sponsered to go through the academy?

Oh, Christ... not this again. Not another sponsorship thread! Please! I can't handle it... please god no. For the love of all that is good, please stop this right here!!!!

Errrgh.....

You cannot self sponsor through ANY police academy in MA. Period.
You must be sponsored by an agency to attend. Period.
