Younger Generation Eyed In Helping Catch Criminals

BOSTON -- The Haverhill Police Department hopes to enlist the younger generation to help catch criminals by posting the department's Web site on the popular MySpace.

The site is one of the most popular networking Web sites among teens.

The Haverhill Police Department site allows visitors to call in anonymous tips about crimes.

Police Chief Al DeNaro said that he hopes the Internet connection will encourage ongoing communication about what's going on in schools, on the streets and at home.

Earlier this year, Haverhill police were able to track down a gang of teens who were defacing property when the group posted pictures of the damage on MySpace.
