New Contract on Govenors Desk?

(Click here to view the original thread on the MassCops Message Board)

I heard the new contract for State College SSPO's is on the govenors desk for approval. Does anyone know of a link or could post this new contract. Thanks.

Is that the MCLEA contract or AFSCME?

Jimmy,

that would be the AFSCME contract the one with a year of no raise. I think the biggest benefit in the whole thing is you can now have 200 hours of comp time on the books. God I love the state

Oh geez..........

The contract you refer to is for all 2700+ AFSCME local#1067 clerks, maintainers, painters, boiler plant operators, motor vehicle operators, administrative assistants, library aides, electricians, cooks, etc, etc, etc. The Police officers (170) who are obviously a minority, are poorly represented by the generic contract you mention.
What do you specifically need to know? How about the basics? about $0.60 per hour raise at grade 14 patrolman step 4. Now lets not forget that the contract is way overdue from the last one. When you factor in the loss of wages (Retro) and time elapsed, it really isn't much of a raise is it?

GO MCLEA!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am looking for the current contracts for AFSCME and MCLEA for state college campus police officers. Also what departments if any are currently belong to MCLEA?

Posted by: mpd61

Hmmm.....
Is this for real?

AFSCME contract/payscale is available on the Web
MCLEA is a professional association today. At some point many are hoping to make it a recognized labor union.

pm me if you want

Scott,

Don't be too hard on AFSCME, I used to love being a campus PO and getting union representation from janitors

Don't blame the gov. completely - management is representing their side, shame on the union for ratifying the contract.

If you think your getting a bad deal vote no on the contract and go to collective bargaining

It sounds like this is a weak and pitiful exscuse of a union. Unions do not have to "settle" for crappy contracts. Management must bargain in good faith... take them to arbitration if you don't like what management is offering. Arbitrators are supposed to look at both sides fairly and equally if labor and management can't reach an agreement.

I guess you havent worked for AFSCME. They have over 10000 employees in this union and the people have no voice in the matter.

I have to respectfully disagree with you - every member has a vote, every member has a voice - and to quote th old saying, If your not part of the solution your part of the problem.

Unions can even be decertified, and have another union represent the workers.

YEah so 300 something campus police officers against 4700 janitors, let's see who gets what.

a. actually it's only 172 police out of 2800 (around 5% of members)
b. We are before the LRC trying to sever from AFSCME for over two (2) YEARS now!!!

Sorry hosejockey, but AFSCME has admitted before that Police don't fit their "Model"
