Wow! look at N.C., Canada, Colorado and Charlestown High.....all within days and even hours of each other.

Remember what I always say........"Nothing ever happens at a school!" Just ask the administrators. (SHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! the trustees might hear!)

We're hearing the Charlestown incident was gang related. The "bloods" were acting up. Also, a shot gun was recovered.

I didn't hear of any shotgun yet but the point goes across again, school shooting in col, and now in one of my schools, and were still not armed, so i guess the message to the kids is, if you shoot someone in school and the school police show up don't worry they don't have guns

School Police officer will never carry gun's, it's going to take a school police officer to get shot while working, and even that they still wont give us gun the city of boston consider us as security officer not police we dont even carry OC, Baton the only thing we are allowed to carry is 1 pair of handcuff's and a radio that dosen'teven work properly.

It blows my mind that you guys don't carry.

o buy the way in south boston yesterday a loaded 9mm was found behind the high school. 10-1

Illogical! Brockton School Police=FT Armed Police, but Boston School Police aren't?

Posted by: Pacman

Waltham has four FT Armed officers in the Schools.

Posted by: bspd103

Let me know if anyone can find logic in this math problem.

10 or more guns seized + 700 plus knives + increase of gang presence + homicide rates up in the city = School Police Officers have batons and OC taken off their belts and must now use hands for all issues

Let me know if I'm missing something!!!

Oh....no need for guns...there's an invisible force field around schools which prevents all crimes of violence...

SHERIFF: GUNMAN SHOT STUDENT THEN SELF

An armed gunman holding students hostage at Platte Canyon High School shot one teenaged girl, then killed himself as SWAT members burst into the room where he was holed up, according to Park County Sheriff Fred Wegener.

High School Locked Down After Deputies Shot

(September 28, 2006)—A high school was locked down Thursday afternoon in Lakeland, Fla. about 35 miles east of Tampa while authorities searched for a gunman who shot two Polk County sheriff’s deputies and a police dog during a traffic stop.

One of the deputies later died.

Sheriff Grady Judd said the deputies were taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center after the shooting just before noon in north Lakeland.
He wouldn't release their names or discuss their conditions because their relatives had not been notified.
“We will find him, we will bring him to justice, the sooner the better,” he said
A hospital spokeswoman referred questions about the deputies to the sheriff's office.
The suspect was first approached in a traffic stop, but he then fled into a wooded area, Judd said.
Shots were fired, and the two deputies and a police dog were hit, he said.
The shooting occurred near Kathleen High School, which was locked down.
A woman who would identify herself only as Mrs. Platt said students were locked in their classrooms and were safe.
She referred other questions to the sheriff's office.

The biggest excuse that a school disctrict will give for them not wanting school police officers being armed is they don't want the children to be " scared and intimidated" by armed officers, Of course once someone gets shot inside a school of one of these districts the tune will change real quick.

Posted by: BSP4141

Only way things are going to change for us is if a teacher gets shot, one of our guys got shot in 03, nothing happend, they even took out o.c and batons. i guess the school department must think we are pretty nasty with out hands.

You Are Damm Right Bsp4141

you need to explore the actual reasons why those who make the decision, do not trust you and your colleagues to be armed. If they think the local police are readilly available, that you are under trained, are unreliable, that they lack confidence in you or that they think you are under trained... have them simply say so and ask that they address that problem with better training or better screening s of potential college and school officers. - Rather than you benignly whining here, find out what their issues are with you -their employee, and ask what must be done to resolve the issue. Otherwise, the same posts will appear year after year... What is their issue with trusting and having confidence in you ...? Simply ask them what must be done for you to earn their respect and trust.. School shootings are an unfortunate reality for years to come..Your employer clearly lacks confidence in you.......

You say this, yet when they used to put officers through a full boston academy, there were the same issues. It is the simple fact that the Boston Public Schools run the department. How would you feel if the school superintendent was in charge of Boston Police? This is essentially what we are dealing with as Boston School Police officers. Does it make sense? No

Why would you assume that this approach hasn't already been tried. Most unarmed agencies, are unarmed because their admin is either philosophical opposed to it or simply feel that it is not needed. The Boston School PD have a very legitimate case as to why they should be armed. I deal regularly with the students from various Boston Schools and can see why the BSP officers feel un equipped to safely do their job. I would complain too if I were in their shoes.

In the 5 years of working in Charlestown there were three shootings around CHS area. This is nothing new for CHS.

Hey Woody some Mass State Troopers who are going to get sued also think colleges should not be carrying firearms LOL!!!!

Posted by: ferus fidelitas

i have no problem with any school or college officer being armed - nor should anyone on this site- provided that the officer is adequately trained and screened.. What do they tell you is the reason that they lack confidence in you or don't see the need ? I'm sure one of you has asked..everyone, even school administration, knows that school shootings will continue - thats why local and state police receive "active shooter" training in public schools. What do they tell you ? That they lack confidence in you, that they don't send you for adequate training, that they have e s p and know that a shooting wont occur, that they have no problem letting kids continue to be shot until the local police arrive..??

If The School Police Were Armed It Would Deprive The School Depart. Of A Luxury They Dearly Cherish , Deniability.it Would Be The Equivelant Of Them Throwing In The Towel. There Are Still Approx. 7 Or Eight Officers With Full Academy Training Remaining On The Dept. It Would Be Easy To Begin With This Small Nucleus And Expand When Needed.no Officer Should Be Armed Without The Proper Training And Psychological Trainig.
