i live in weymouth so not far at all .. so if anyone know's of any around boston too

Posted by: hockeyman4

thank you night but i just looked at it residency is required

Posted by: Nightstalker

the thing to do is simply call area departments and see if they are hiring. Personally i sent an email out to a bunch of departments who got back to me within 24 hours for the most part. When i looked for job postings in my area i only found 1. After I sent out the email I found 6 more..... Thats probably your best bet...

Posted by: hockeyman4

ok thank you im def going to do that ....i have worked as a part time police officer for two year also an aux officer for 4 and a dispatcher for 7 months just trying to gain as much expirience as possible

If you are currently dispatching, check the jobfile on leaps. We swiped one of Rocklands' best, but word is they're looking at budget shorfalls, we know what that means. I don't think they're replacing him.

Cohasset and Norwell PD's tend to advertise often, Easton has an entrance exam system, and had posted a test, might already have passed.

Brockton keeps talking about going civilian, how's your Cape Verdean and Hatian?

Good luck.

thank you very much for ur help im going to check leaps again tomorow hopefuly something new ... i moved far away from my current that is why im looking for something new

I'm from Weymouth also and had the same hard time getting on the job as you are now. That's why I ended up in Los Angeles! Come out west, we're hiring like crazy! There's at least one other guy on LAPD from Weymouth besides me and we both love it.

P.S.

Check out the "Beyond New England" posts on this board. There's a bunch of stuff there that might answer some of your questions.

Spend the extra 5$ on *good paper, * full size envelope *postage.

A resueme is your first impression, I was hired once based just on my resueme, never had an interview.

Weymouth PD is currently looking for a dispatcher.
Here is the link from the town website: http://www.weymouth.ma.us/hr/jdetail.asp?id=6051

Weymouth dispatcher is a great job. Good pay and good benfits. But if you are taking the job looking to get on as a Police Officer forget about it you will stay a dispatcher forever. Also Weymouth does not have specials, so no details. Just a heads up..... I personally would look a little further south, towards the Cape. Alot of the Departments down there have specials.

Posted by: dab7547

I know Weymouth was hiring not to long ago, check with them.
