Anyone know when security staffing will begin for this lab ? Will this security force be armed, and be specially trained ? What qualifications will BUMC require ?

Posted by: KSB

I think it has to be built first.

Well, lets see:

Will the High Sheriff of Middlesex County form a BioHazard Harbor Patrol that has the Mounted Unit driving Hummers in the Harbor, staffed by his elite volunteer reserve deputies - or even better, now that Nartoon Secruity is gone I am sure that wack-job will need work -

Don't worry, if it is done like everything else in this state some under qualified hack will be in charge of hiring campain contributors

Let's not forget firefighter39, they'll have to hire some off duty nozzleheads to make sure the ironworkers don'r start fires with their blowtorches.

So put down your bottle of gin and sober up for a bit and maybe you can get the detail too. Just because you couldn't / can't make it in the LE field, there's no need to be angry. We need foundation savers, like you, too.

DirtyHarry, they've yet to build it because of neighborhood complaints that the full enviornmental review process was fast tracked and not in full compliance. Maybe some of these neighbors should sit back and see how many of their children have dies from gunfire, drug overdoses, AIDS, etc.... before they go spouting off how dangerous this proposed lab will be. Maybe get their own house in order before they attack a legitimate institution which will actually bring JOBS to them and their kids. . Just my .02 cents. HC

Do you really think this "high Security facility" will provide jobs for those who currently reside in the neighborhood ? I dont think so.

Posted by: HousingCop

KSB,
Yes, I do think that somewhere written into the contract they probably have to hire a certain amount of Boston residents to actually build the facility. It's built into most major contracts that take place in Boston. They don't have to be high skilled jobs, they just have to pay the going labor rate. Which isn't so bad if all you do is pick weeds or spray water to keep the dust from getting airborne.

There's probably other clauses written in that after the facility is built that another certain percentage of jobs go to city residents. No, not the scientists but rather tasks such as janitorial, drivers, receptionists, etc.... I don't see why a resident with a valid pistol permit and a clean record and work history wouldn't be hired for the security of the place. It's not rocket science when you log people in and out and monitor cameras and door alarms. And I bet the pay isn't so bad to start either.

Just so all of you know,

That bio-lab is going to be staffed by Boston University police and BU Medical Public Safety from the hospital.

That's why former Major Robbins took over the BU main campus police.

If u want in, I suggest putting in an application to either dept.

Be prepared to deal with a lot of bullshi* and non-sense on both departments.

Good luck to all of u who get on.

I just got out of that nightmare!!!!!

BU Police a nightmare?! Are you serious?!

Posted by: KSB

If you get the job will you be lucky enough to wear a natty green BUMC blazer, or a Boston University badge ?

Posted by: DirtyHarry

Yes, those green blazers are so intimidating.

Posted by: KSB

Remember when BUMC public safety called itself "concierge services"?

An attractive female officer at the Atrium entrance wore a prom dress, and greeted the visitors.

Posted by: DirtyHarry

Yeah, maybe Touhey will issue the Biohazzard guards evening gowns.

Posted by: KSB

Ha! ya they can wear their working clothes to BMC's "Gay-la"

Posted by: chrome.dome

Will this be an armed security force ? Will it be a Police department ?

Posted by: KSB

Nobody knows. Construction of the facility didn't even begin.

Posted by: KSB

Looks like the construction is moving forward. I saw the iron from 93.
