For the dispatchers out there anyone know of a software program that would be useful for tracking tows? Our hand written log is a mess and I have attempted to create one in microsft access with no luck. ANy help would be appreciated.

what do you need to the program to do? Are you looking for something that you can query or search?

Do you use IMC software? It's built in.

That being said, we dont use one. No tow releases, no nothing. Lucky to even find the name of the tow company in the log without opening the OF/AR report

Pamet also has a tow log feature built into it.

We do not use IMC so thats not an option. if you could see some of the dispatchers hand writings you understand why I'd like a program. Excel works we use that for our summons book but you can't search it or query by officer. Where in pamet is the tow log?, I don't believe the version we have has it.

IMC does have one built into the software. It is where you put the vehicle info in. It has tow reason, towed by, to where it's towed. It does have lein info and released to, but we just use the reason, towed by and towed to. It works out pretty well.

If you don't have IMC, why don't you put it some where in the log entry. Then when you have to search the log it's there. I don't know, just a suggestion.

Try checking with the provider for your CAD system to see if the software version your running has the option of a tow log and the system access is not set up properly or if there is an updated version that has what your looking for. If you email their tech support, they may be able to help or something to consider for an updated version.

Thanks for the help everyone.

You can sort an Excel document by a single colum.

Also, anything in an Office doccument is searchable.

What sort of things do you want in your Log? I'll toss together a real quick Excel sheet for ya, and you can go from there
