Alleged Brazen Burglar Suspected By Police Of Targeting Brockton
BROCKTON, Mass. -- A 73-year-old Brockton woman was able to fight off an attacker Friday morning as she became the latest victim in a string of home invasions in that city, police said.
Since Sunday, burglars have broken into several homes in the early morning hours in Brockton, according to officials.
Police said residents have been home during all of the robberies, but this is the first case in which the burglar has confronted a resident.
Norma Kriteman, who lives on Annette Road, said she was reading in her bedroom around 2:15 a.m. when she heard noises and saw a masked man enter her room.
"If he is going to kill me, I am going to fight. That is how I looked at it. I am not going to just whimper and let him beat me up or whatever. So I just did what I had to do," Kriteman said.
Although Kriteman was able to fend off her attacker, she said the man still made off with checks, cash and her license.
