The 2004 Aquidneck Island National Police Parade will be held on Sunday May 2nd It starts at 12 noon at Two- Mile Corner in Middletown RI. and ends in downtown Newport RI (City Hall).

The Aquidneck Island National Police Parade has delighted crowds since the early 70's when it was started by a group of local police officers to remember officers killed in the line of duty. After an almost 10 year hiatus, in 1996, again a group of dedicated local police officers and a team of civilians joined together to return this landmark event to Newport. The parade is produced by these volunteers who dedicate many hours to show their appreciation for the men and women that risk their own lives that others may live in peace and safety. This parade and its sister events are dedicated to all law enforcement personnel and especially to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice walking the "thin blue line".

Over the years the parade has attracted police departments from all over the US, Canada and even the Bahamas. Many other non police units are also favorites at the parade including the United States Marine Corp 8th and I "silent drill platoon", The Philadelphia Mummers and The New York City Emerald Society. Along the parades two mile route some of the finest marching bands in the country perform.

Many local non profit organizations also appear in the parade sending their message to the community in the form of floats. There is also the usual compliment of animated characters, clowns and other delights to entertain our younger fans.

We invite you to join us on May 2, 2004 to show your support for the men and women that dedicate their lives to improving the quality of ours. We hope that you will find all the information you need on this site to make your experience at the parade enjoyable. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us via our Parade Information Page
