Hi all,

I wondering how other LEOs handle a stole recovery of a MV. Do you take the license plates or leave it on the MV when it is towed.???? Thanks in advance

now why in the world would you take the plates?

Not sure what you are asking. Why would plates be taken off? Do you mean if the plates are reported stolen on a different car?

My question is not very hard???? 94C I am asking the question because when a MV is stolen its plates are stolen as well. So do you take the plate off the car and return them to the registry or does the registry allow the same plates be used after its recovered?

If the plates are stolen and on a different car, you take the plates. If the whole car is stolen and the plates belong on the car, you leave them.

The car and plates are no longer stolen since you just recovered both. when entering something in LEAPS as stolen you either enter the stolen plates or the stolen vehicle. you don't enter both.

The same goes for plates only. once you recover them then they have to be removed from LEAPS so they are no longer stolen are they?

give them back.
