I saw on LEAPS in the jobfile that Worcester State College Police is hiring for a police officer. It says a LTC is required. Is Worcester State College Police now armed? The last I knew they were not armed. Does anyone know if this has changed and if they are armed now.

As of right now, they are not armed.

A required LTC is a cheap way to get a background check for the colleges. Plus they can carry OC.

As far as I know, they do not carry firearms; unless they changed in the past month. They have the baton and OC. It's been talked about, but it still remains a touchy subject.

Based on the last 3 out of 4 "recruits" Worcester State has hired, its obvious they need to work on their recruiting efforts. Perhaps mentioning "LTC" will draw better applicants. Perhaps hiring qualified male applicants over unqualified bullish female applicants could be a step in the right direction.

You may want to clarify how being a "bullish female" makes one "unqualified". You may offend a lot of officers.

I agree being a bullish female doesn't make one qualified or unqualified for anything. I met two individuals from their agency, who were recent hires, and I believe both are no longer there. Both, regardless of their 'orientation', could be described as bullish, as well as poorly trained, poorly educated and not fit for duty anywhere. During these individuals' separate interview processes, I am aware of two males, both having the SSPO academy or equivalent, who applied and were passed over. According to a veteran officer in the Dept., the most recent hire is a male, with a BS, and he just finished the SSPO academy. Also, if someone is actually offended by the term 'bullish' (or short, fat, etc.) I don't think they're going to make a very good campus cop (pig, 2 1/2, security guard, rent-a-cop, mallpolice, babysitter, etc.).

Try calling a woman a bullish-female, but first protect your package.
