Any Federal Law Enforcement Officers on Here? (DEA, FBI, etc)

(Click here to view the original thread on the MassCops Message Board)

Hello,
I was just wondering if there are any federal law enforcement professionals on here perusing the boards. I'm very familiar with the Massachusetts civil service system, but dont know much about the federal side of things. Exams, preference (vet or residency), interview process, opportunities, etc. Any advice would help.

Is the best for 1811 jobs

check out usajobs.com too. OPM uses that to post Federal LE jobs Go to search by series and type in 0083. Good luck.

Yes, I work for CBP. U.S Customs before that. DOD Police at Otis before that. Active duty USAF Security Police before that. I guess that covers my federal career since graduating from high school, Class of 1979.

yup, that pretty much covers it. Welcome to the thread. I did DoD at Westover, as well as Security Police, USAFR, and 20 years as a municipal cop. Now working for the VA Police in Bedford.

I am an ICE Special Agent who originally left Massachusetts because there was no way I was going to be picked up under civil service anytime soon. I went into the Border Patrol and have had a great career to this point.

National Park Service checking in...
If you have specific questions regrading Federal employment fire away. Also I would hardly say that the 911jobs forum is the best for finding any federal job let alone 1811's. I've never even heard of it before and don't know anyone who has used it. I went on there and it was totally lacking in content. The official site of the US Government is www.usajobs.gov . All federal jobs are posted there.

Thanks for the replys guys. I'm just trying to build my resume as best i can and do some research. I've been doing finance/IT work for the Boston Fire Department for a while and I just joined the Air National Guard SF/SP (after getting talked out of it for college 7 years ago after high school graduation). Plan is to get my masters in criminal justice and brush up on my Spanish after basic. I figure if the LE thing doesnt go my way, every agency still needs accountants!

Good Luck, if you get 10pt veteran status and masters you will be unstoppable.
FBI & others are hiring accountants all the time. when they go in they need people to review books. just look at each agencies web page on hiring. when you apply to jobs on http://www.usajobs.gov/ most times you will get linked to an agency web site. FBI, GSA, ATF, USSS etc

Hey DoD272. Welcome. I got a chuckle out of the 10 pt vets preference comment. So true. All I need now is the masters!! LOL. Not even going to attempt it. That 20% service connected disability sure helps though. you are right there. I'm at the VA in Bedford, Ma. Not a bad job. Good bunch of guys, and kind-a busy. Anyway, stay safe folks. Glad the thread is still being used.
