CARVER, Mass. -- A Carver man who played the role of Santa Claus at a holiday attraction is facing charges he molested three boys.
John Mulligan was in Wareham District Court this week on five counts of indecent assault on a child under the age of 14.
According to the Enterprise of Brockton, Mulligan allegedly assaulted two of the boys earlier this month and the other boy in June while he was baby-sitting them.
Mulligan has worked at the Edaville Railroad in Carver for several years as a maintenance worker. He also posed as Santa Claus during Edaville's Holiday Festival of Lights.
One of the railroad's co-owners told the Enterprise that background checks on Mulligan never turned up any problems.
He was released on $500 bail and ordered to stay away from children under the age of 16.
He was also placed on leave from his job.
