Hi all, I've been searching the site and haven't found any up-to-date information on Randolph Aux. I have head mixed reviews about them and would like to get some more information. How hard is it to get in? Any idea what their duties are, powers, etc? Thanks in advance for any information!!

Heard they may have some openings soon

Check out there website:

www.rapd.8m.com (sometimes the site is a little slow)

Call the Chief and he can tell you what you need to do to get on. I worked there for a few month's before I got hired in my town. It's an alright place. They will send you to the reserve academy if need be. Plan on working mostly weekends and both the 4th of July Parade and Memorial Day Parade.

Let's put it this way. I filled out the application, met with the Deputy. A quick check of my BOP and the next thing I knew, I am standing in front of the City Clerk getting sworn in. The wole thing took literally 2-3 hours!!!

I then ask the Deputy about the academy etc. and figure that I would start working shifts when I graduate. He tells me that I can start right away, with no academy whatsoever. I have heard that some on the dept. work for over a year without attending the academy.

In the end, my departement at the time ended up sponsoring me for the academy, so I had to resign my "appointment" from the Randolph Auxiliary.

I ended up being in class with like 6-8 new guys on Randolph and had a blast. They were cool and made the academy fun to attend. Not sure if they are still working there or not.

I know quite a few guys from the Randolph Aux. I work with one and hang out with another on a regular basis. I was also appointed but couldn't perform the duties needed without compromising my current employment. I'd say go for it if you can.

I was there for 5 years, its OK, you will get the reserve academy and something to put on your resume and thats about it. Your better off, if you can trying Attleboro, Abington, Rockland and Whitman they are much more active.

From what I hear Randolph Aux is going through some big changes. It will have a new Chief starting Jan 1st. Sounds like they are gonna tighten up ship around there.

I left Randolph after finding out that you dont need to go to the academy to work the street. the cheif is nice but its a little scary the trainning they have. Attleboro has their own academy before you go to the MCTC academy. Abington Requires you to go to the Plymouth Academy which is 220hours.

The Randolph Aux department is a great place to get experience and training. They send you to the 120 hr Basic Reserve course as well as provide in house training. They have a new training officer now that will provide training at least once a month. Yea, they send you on the streets without finishing the academy but they dont send you alone - they send you with an FTO so that you're getting on the job training. If the training and experience wasn't good, I wouldnt be doing it for free. And the guys there are good guys. Theyre professional and I get along with all of them just fine. I just wish we'd get new cruisers...

since the new chief took over it sounds like there have been some big changes for the better. they also brought in a LT. to head up the training (in house) that is top notch. the application process went from a 1 page deal to a 9 page app. with every little detail. from what it sounds like the department is making a push to square itself away and make some positive improvements. at the VERY least you will get some good training and since when is good training a bad thing in this field.

Stay safe.

i also just found this that might be helpful to some...it is the new web page of the department. http://www.randolphauxiliary.com/

Call and leave a message if no one's there. Or you can email the chief directly at chief@randolphauxiliary.com.

It wasn't his house, it was his parents.

I knew him well, he was a good kid.
Then he turned into a dumbshit and destroyed his dreams.
