Anyone know any further info on this dept? I see that they're hiring as of right now and didn't know if anyone has any experience with the guys there...thinking about possibly dropping off an application there

Posted by: Danman1116

well by the silence I'm guessin no news is good news

Posted by: Danman1116

doh...i might apply there anyways...seems like they're going the non civil service route according to the thread that Gil posted in the Job Listings section...I'll give it a shot...can't hurt to try right?

Posted by: mpd61

Hmmm.........
I think H5O checked them out within last couple years and it seemed a complete waste of time if I recall. He had FT academy etc.

Posted by: Danman1116

hmm i'm gonna have to PM him and ask...is H5O his full name?

Posted by: 40th MPOC#309

His peeps call him "Yimmy". He is a well respected, multi-talented, highly educated member of the law enforcement community. A man amongst men. Truly the finest of the finest. Amen.

Posted by: futureofficer04

Would anyone know if you need to be a resident of Rochester to apply and/or to obtain a position at the PD? thanks for any responses.

Posted by: Mikey682

Not according to the advertisement. I'm applying and I'm not a resident.

Posted by: Danman1116

so who here applied there? Just came back from there and the guy said so far over 300 have applied

Posted by: Mikey682

the application was 17 pages long, that should fill up a few filing cabinets.

Yeah I was going to apply. But after I saw the length of the application I decided not too. And I probabally just save myself $25.00 as well.

Posted by: Danman1116

I feel like a reject...never received any notice to take the exam

Posted by: futureofficer04

Has anyone on here taken the Rochester PD exam?

Posted by: futureofficer04

anyone?? like what should I expect, study, etc.?

Posted by: Danman1116

don't think that the test has been given yet...

Posted by: futureofficer04

yes, I know that. The exam is held next weekend and I was wondering if anyone has taken the exam in the past, so I know what to expect.

Oh God! I work with the bum, guess I haven't seen that side of him yet.....LOL
Only kiddin, he's a good guy, many laughs working with him. We're both from the great city of Brockton, we understand each other's accent, up here in apple country they actually use that letter, "R" for whatever reason that is. Looks like he's posting under j809 now instead of H50.
For the guy looking at Rochester, it's a nice town, my sister-in-law lives there and says that the guy's do a great job. I heard that many of the OUI's come out of New Bedford after the bars close. Like anywhere, it can be as busy as you want it to be. Good luck in the search.

Posted by: Danman1116

just got a voicemail from them...turns out they sent out the notification to appear for the test to my home addy, not my PO Box which I had put down as my mailing addy. So they're resending it out so looks like I'll be taking it...for those that have received their notice, what did it come with??

Posted by: futureofficer04

Cool! It didn't come with anything just a notice to appear.

Posted by: Danman1116

right on! so yea, its at the PD itself right?

Posted by: futureofficer04

Nope. it's at the rochester high school.

hmm, now i gotta figure out where it is, is it near the PD itself? hopefully i'll get my notice with directions maybe or at least an addy which i can use w/mapquest

Posted by: Danman1116

so does anyone kno what to expect wtih this? I'm thinking its their own version of the civil service test or something like that

yea think it was by the same guy, i believe it was his name on the lower left corner of the test on each page

so how'd everyone think they did on the test? i think it wasn't too bad, almost seemed like the civil service in a way

Posted by: futureofficer04

It was ok. The first part through me way off. I don't think I did that great. Oh well, better luck next time.

To all the test takers..... Rochester IS NOT hiring at this particular point. This test was to establish a new list of candidates as per the contract (new list every 2 years). They are waiting to see if two of their guys go to the 77RTT, if it ever happens. If and when they go, they will be hiring for two.

There was a SMALL possibility of hiring 1 full-timer sometime after July, but it is not looking good. Rochester will be looking for academy trained people first and foremost, the town will probably not reach into it's tightly locked safe to put someone through the academy.

Department has got a bad rap in the past, but is up and coming with great people to work with. All kinds of new toys coming in, and a young, motivated Chief.

Any questions? PM me, I'll try to be as open as I can be. Good luck to everyone.

Jeff, was wondering when you were going to throw your hat into this ring! Any word on that other thing we have, or more of the same rumors?

Posted by: rpdmounted

Same ole' stuff Q5. One of my Sgt's is good friends with a lot of Troopers....but it's all rumor mill stuff (still). Last I was told, they are hoping for Semptember. We'll see.

Be safe bro - see you at Q1.

Posted by: Danman1116

so has anyone heard back from RPD yet? The chief said it should take about 2 weeks to get the results back and then about another two weeks to add on the weighted points. I figured to have maybe heard something by now.

Posted by: RPD931

How much did this test cost? And there was a SLIM chance of hiring MAYBE 1 FT? Fraud?!?

it was $25 and the chief said maybe one sometime in the future and that we'd be put on a list and ranked accordingly. Well, something just ain't right here cuz it's been 5+ weeks and I haven't heard a thing

Posted by: RPD931

how many folks took this test?

If i had to venture a guess, I'd probably say 60 or so were there. That's just a rough estimate though.
