Quincy Police Hiring?

(Click here to view the original thread on the MassCops Message Board)

Anyone out there know if QPD is hiring any new bodies any time soon? I'm working for a department in Florida now, but still quite high on Quincy's list. Any info would be great...

Thanks

I know they just hired about 20 within the past year, so I would bet they are done for a while.

lofu, what's this I hear all new QPD hires have the option of taking the summer off?

QUincy is in the process of hiring , I believe, 3 Asian officers. I also heard, now this is just rumor, that that are also planning on hiring 3-4 others from the normal list. Again, this is just a rumor.(The Asian hiring is fact though)

The "normal" list? Does this mean Asains are not "normal"

Maybe he meant the White Anglo Saxon Male List?

The normal list means that they don't request a special list, i.e. Asian, female, etc. They go by the normal list without breaking it up.

The QPD is currently looking for language-proficient Asians, but because of the recent elimination of enhanced longevity by PERAC, there will be about 20 openings within the next 3 years.

4/2 schedule for most patrol officers, shifts run 8am-4pm, 4pm-12am, 6pm-2am, and 12am-8am. If you're new, expect to be on either days or last-halfs for quite awhile.

I don't keep track of the civil service list anymore, so I have no idea when the current list expires, when the next test will be, etc. The possible 20 will be hired sometime around 2008-2009, if that helps. There may well be some hired before then, but retirements will definitely result in hiring at least 20 in about 3 years.
