Hello, I was told that the town of Holliston has an Aux program. I was wondering if anyone knew if they could work details or not? Or if anyone has anymore info about what they do there? thanks

i dunno know about holliston, but ashland has an Aux program and they do details and have full police powers from what i understand

thats good to know..thanks..i know Holliston does have an aux program because i went to the R/I Academy with a gentleman who was sponsored by them. I also noticed during DT that he had a holster on his duty belt. I never really thought to ask him if they are armed and to what degree they patrol and have arrest authority etc.

I grew up in Holliston.Yes, they have an Auxiliary program.Holliston has a very small department.I think maybe 19 or 20 officers, and they use the reserve officers to supplement their patrol force during special events like Holliston Day.

thanks for the help guys i shot both departments e-mails so hopefully they can answer some of my questions more in depth thanks again.

Holliston Auxillary does work details. I work with with someone that is on auxillary and they work details.

Ashland has Auxillaries (no pay) and Permanent Intermittents (part-time police officers). The auxillaries DO NOT have full police powers. The PI's do.
Just wanted to clarify. And yes, Auxillaries can work details.

i thought an ashland PO posted that they did.. i'll have to find the thread

Auxilaries get there power of arrest only in times of emergency. Auxilaries actually fall under cival defense. My agencie is currently in the process of acredidation and we where told you cant have auxilaries working paid details. Specials or intermittents can. I belive we are going to be restructuring our auxilary program and adding specials or reserves in the future. THe down side is anybody that will carry a gun or have arrest powers will have to compltete a phych and physical test at there own expense.

It varies by town and is up to the chief/selectmen/union. In mansfield all you need is the R/I academy and you can work details. I am assuming it is like that in most towns.

Holliston has a very good Auxiliary program. Somewhat smaller compared to most towns, but they do get to do quite a bit.
